I recently celebrated my 5th wedding anniversary by traveling to Hawaii with my husband. Although the flights were long, it was a wonderful place to spend time together, relaxing and exploring.
I was able to cross, not one, but TWO items off my bucket list. 1) Fly in a helicopter and 2) see lava.
You could feel the heat wafting up from the molten rock. The trees that grew near the lava were burning and smoking because of their proximity to the heat. It was all terribly exciting!
Another highlight was a gorgeous hike up the Waihee Ridge Trail in Maui. The summit was completely surrounded by thick clouds that day, but the stunning views on the way up and down more than made up for the trail’s less-than-striking peak.
But the best part of was, of course, letting the clutter of our daily lives melt away under in the Hawaiian sun, so we could just be, together.
